Embracing the Flow: Nodal Shift to Pisces and Virgo
Discover how the North Node in Pisces and South Node in Virgo invite us to release control, trust our intuition, and find balance between practicality and spirituality in the coming year.
With the shift in the Nodes, coming January 2025, I wanted to talk about the significance of the Nodes in your natal chart and in the transits.
The Nodes are significant in Astrology and Human Design as they are part of your purpose and direction in this life.
They are not planets, but points between the earth and the moon and represent our path and purpose in this life.
The South Node is where we find comfort, where we have played out a role in past lives over and over again. It’s where we fall into patterns when we’re feeling triggered.
The North Node is the area of life we’re being pulled towards in this life and often it feels very uncomfortable, which is why we tend to move back towards our South Node, or place of comfort.
Human Design speaks to the Nodes as the themes of the first half of our life and the second half of our life.
So, up until around the age of 42, you’ll notice the themes of your life relating to that South Node theme and after 42, you’ll be pulled toward and begin to embody the themes of the North Node.
Currently, as I’m writing this in September of 2024, the Nodal Axis is Aries/Libra.
Aries is a cardinal fire sign, ruled by Mars. This is initiating energy, Aries wants to start things. Mars is also the warrior energy so it’s marked by anger, frustration and also assertiveness and aggression.
Aries is about leadership but can be selfish in its shadow.
Libra on the other hand is a Cardinal air sign and is ruled by Venus.
This is the epitome of the yin/yang energy. Libra is all about balance, peace and harmony. It’s focused on our relationships.
In this dynamic when we’re feeling triggered by being center stage, by taking the lead and starting new things, we might find ourselves leaning into the peaceful and harmonious energy of Libra. Where rather than lead and stand out, we find it safer to play the people pleaser to make everyone happy.
Instead of focusing on ourselves, we focus on relationships because that’s incredibly important to Libra.
I personally have my nodes in this axis, and especially as I’m moving through my Nodal Return, I feel the push pull of this polarity strongly.
Most of my life I played the people pleaser, I didn’t want to rub anyone wrong. I wanted to be invisible yet at the same time, that Aries North Node deeply wanted to be seen and to stand out.
The sign if the nodes looks like the drawing and circled signs. The North Node is like a horseshoe and the South Node is more like a U.
Your North and South Node combination will be one of the following:
Aries/Libra
Taurus/Scorpio
Gemini/Sagittarius
Cancer/Capricorn
Leo/Aquarius
Virgo/Pisces
The Nodes are in the Aries/Libra axis but in January will move to the North Node in Pisces and the South Node in Virgo.
This changes the energy of our collective purpose and direction, the themes we might see on a global level.
Pisces is ruler of the 12th house and is ruled by Neptune and Jupiter. It’s a mutable water sign and is deeply spiritual, rules all things unseen, the dream world, altered reality, dissolves barriers and boundaries.
According to Astrology A Cosmic Science, the motto of Pisces is “serve or suffer”.
Virgo, in contrast, rules the 6th house of health and daily routines, rules the gut and is ruled my Mercury.
Virgo is analytical, judgmental, critical and in service to others. Where Pisces is in service in a deep and spiritual way, in order to save those who are suffering or on the outside of society, Virgo serves in little ways to help others. It’s not as deep as Pisces.
You can check back to 2015-2017 to see what themes came up during that time and before that to 2004-2006 for you personally. This might give you a little insight as to how this will show up for you.
For me, 2015-2017 was the year my entire life changed. I got pregnant, had my son, left that relationship and found my spirituality.
That time in my life was very dark (I have Pisces in my 8th house). I was in an abusive relationship and felt like I had no voice. I drank too much because I wanted to be anywhere else. I was such a people pleaser because I didn’t value myself enough, didn’t value my opinion and just played the role to attempt to keep the peace in my house.
In 2004-2006 I travelled to Spain for two years of college in Madrid. My parents have named those two years of my life as my $60,000 vacation as I missed way too much class and experimented with alcohol and drugs. I went to raves, partied, lost myself in the club scene in Madrid and also made some of the most beautiful friendships of my life.
Are you seeing this Pisces 8th house trend for me?
Finding out where Pisces is in your chart and looking back to these years can help you understand how this might impact you.
Whatever area it’s lighting up will be highlighted as the Nodes move through this area.
Pisces North Node is pulling us towards spirituality, intuition, our psychic abilities and in its shadow side, losing ourselves in others and addiction.
That Virgo North Node holds the energy of comfort, where we lean to in the face of challenge. Virgo is judgmental, analytical, and logical but it can keep us stuck in those as well. It’s grounded and likes to have things make sense, but then Pisces is very spiritual where things don’t always make sense.
There is an unseen trust that we have to lean into when it comes to Pisces, that Virgo might want to talk us out of.
With the North Node in Pisces, we’re being asked to trust the unknown, lean into faith, and embrace a more fluid, creative, and compassionate way of living. This is a time to let go of rigid structures and the need to always have things figured out. Pisces energy urges us to connect with our inner world, our dreams, and our emotional and spiritual selves. It may inspire collective shifts toward healing, art, and a deeper sense of interconnectedness with others and the universe.
I think we can already see these themes starting to come out. More people are “waking up” and curious of alternative methods of healing.
The South Node in Virgo highlights where we may need to let go of tendencies toward excessive criticism, micromanaging, or obsessing over details. This energy asks us to release the idea that everything has to be perfect or follow a strict plan. It’s about learning to balance practical, day-to-day concerns with a broader sense of purpose, allowing more flow and less worry into our lives.
Collectively, this nodal shift may encourage us to find peace in uncertainty, open ourselves to intuition, and release rigid expectations in favor of a more soulful, compassionate way forward.
Next year is big astrologically as well, all outer planets will be moving signs and so we can expect some deep collective themes coming up.
Astrology is helpful because it can help us prepare and understand how these transits can impact our own natal chart.
I’m excited for this transition of the nodes because I love depth and transformation. It can be hard and painful but it’s also so beautiful and in the feeling of change and transformation at the end of the day is what it’s all about.
We’re here to remember our purpose, to remember who we are and why we’re here and that comes from a deep inner knowing and inner relationship.
