On Thursday, July 17th, Mercury is going to station retrograde in Leo, joining Saturn and Neptune retrograde in fire signs.

Mercury retrograde is an invitation to slow down and review, reflect, revise, etc. Yes, it’s a time when we may have miscommunication, technological glitches, exes come out of nowhere because we’re looking toward the past but mostly it’s an invitation to slowwww down.

I’ve been sitting with this retrograde... this is happening in my first house (Leo rising here) and honestly, it feels exciting. I can’t quite put my finger on it, maybe it’s all the work I’ve been doing lately, maybe it’s Mars moving through my second house, or maybe it’s Jupiter in my 12th supporting me in moving through all this subconscious work, but this Mercury retrograde feels differnt.

It feels a bit like a what-have-I-been-suppressing-to-be-loved type of energy. A who-was-I-before-I-started censoring-my-expression curiosity.

Because when Mercury moves retrograde in Leo, it’s not just your words that get fuzzy. It’s your truth. Your creativity. Your relationship to being seen, celebrated, and heard.

And that hits different when you’ve spent years learning how to shrink, shape-shift, or perform to feel safe.

This isn’t about fixing how you communicate.

It’s about remembering who you are beneath the mask.

Leo is ruled by the Sun, which is heart-centered, radiant, and expressive. It’s that inner child who just wants to be seen. And Mercury is the voice of the nervous system, the mind, the messages we absorb and project.

So, when Mercury rewinds through Leo? We’re revisiting the stories we’ve internalized about worthiness, identity, and visibility.

We’re asked to look at:

  • Where did I first learn it was safer to stay quiet than be misunderstood?

  • Where have I been performing instead of expressing?

  • Where did I confuse attention for love?
