On Monday, May 26th the Moon and the Sun will be at 6° of Gemini, making this our New Moon in Gemini.

New Moons are a time when we are setting intentions, they tend to be great times for manifestation. We are planting the seeds of our desires to come over the next six months.

During the Full Moon, we got real about what was and what wasn’t working. How we were tending to ourselves and those seeds and got clear about what weeds we needed to cut away and how we needed to further nurture ourselves.

New Moons are Ace energy in the tarot. They are new beginnings, again, those seeds that we plant and tend to to create our gardens.

We can throw some seeds in the ground and walk away and hope they grow into something, or we can tend to them, nurture them even though we don’t see the results of them yet.

Gemini is a mutable air sign, ruled by Mercury and ruler of the 3rd house. Gemini is represented by the twins and it is adaptable and always changing. Gemini is quick, curious and sometimes plays both sides. Gemini can be a bit of a trickster, it definitely gets a bit of a reputation and is one of those signs of the zodiac people tend to throw shade at, along with Scorpio and Aquarius (in my opinion).

Personally, I have my Venus in Gemini so I always love Gemini energy. I love to connect and have conversations, I always say you can be the most attractive person in the room but if we have nothing to talk about I can’t do it.

The shadow side of Gemini is that it gets bored quickly and can bounce from thing to thing or relationship to relationship. Gemini can also stir the pot sometimes just to get a rise out of you and then walk away.

I have some big Gemini energy in my house, my son has a Gemini Moon and my daughter has a Gemini Sun and all the questions are endless, literally.

What does this New Moon in Gemini mean for us collectively?

Of course, always check in your chart to see where Gemini is and what it’s doing. What house is it in? Are there any planets on or around 6° of Gemini?

Gemini rules the lungs, arms, hands, legs, anything in the body that we have two of. The Sun and Moon in Gemini can also create an overactive nervous system, so ensure that you’re finding ways to ground yourself and regulate yourself during this New Moon.

Gemini is about duality, it’s about communication, the mind and siblings. It’s about our close neighbors, what we can touch more or less. It’s fact finding, whereas it’s opposite, Sagittarius is about higher knowledge and the deeper meaning of things, Gemini finds what’s in front of it and collects this information.

A table comes to life and runs away.
The inner story is fanciful, full spectrum open, unformed. Outward events do not match the inner story. A question arises where to put the emphasis--what do you believe? If the way things go outwardly is all, the spirit is crushed. If caprice and whimsy contain treasures, there is room here for hope and for permission to be. But you cannot depend upon caprice and whimsy. So the battle rages between doubt and conviction. Doubt knows that it never works out as you planned. Conviction answers that it is entirely up to you and you will get what you asked for. - Inside Degrees

This New Moon we can see that the Sun and the Moon at 6° of Gemini are conjunct Mercury, Geminis ruler. So this was already about the mind and the way we communicate and think but being in conjunction with its ruler intensified that theme.

This is a time when we can really asses the quality of our mind and the quality of our thoughts.

We are not the mind, we are not the thoughts. Here’s the thing, we think that our thoughts, create our emotions, create our actions and beliefs, but really our emotions create our thoughts then create our actions and finally our beliefs.

As always, emotional regulation is so important. I’ve been learning this lesson a lot lately. I went on a date last month and it was great. Fun, easy, literally so much of what I’ve been calling in and because it was easy and felt good, a few days after that date as I was receiving everything I wanted (words of affirmation, communication, connection, etc.) my body slipped into a familiar chaotic state. My emotions, my body, stored the memory from my past and it all got activated because things were feeling good for me.

That then, began a thought pattern of limiting beliefs. And here’s the thing, I know better. I know those thoughts are bullshit. I knew it was my subconscious self sabotaging and yet I still found myself playing their game.

I sabotaged the situation. Perspective has me seeing that maybe it was just meant to be an expander, showing me the quality of men that are out there and part of me is also disappointed in myself that I sabotaged it.

Part of me knows that my person will be open and willing to handle my emotions and will be able to understand or hold space for my emotional experience and also, I can be upset about the way things went.

I share this because I allowed my mind to work against me. And that is one thing we do have control over, the way we respond to things.

It really was a powerful reminder that, especially as emotional authority, the best thing to do in situations like that is to ride it out. As much as we may want to communicate and share, it’s better to do it from a neutral space rather than an activated space.

With this New Moon, we are being asked to look at the quality of our mind, the quality of our thoughts.

Again, you can control how you respond to things. You have more control than you believe you do. Find a mantra if you notice your thoughts are overly negative. It’s not about bypassing here, but it is about training your mind to work FOR you.

We’re all going to have negative beliefs come up, but how quickly can you replace them with something more supportive. How quickly can you go from, “I can’t do this” to “I am fully capable of anything I set my mind to”.

Last night, I had to do something I didn’t want to do. I wanted to cry and yet, I knew that I had the ability to control my reaction and my experience. So I took a pause. I took a moment to set an intention and to pray. To ask that it be fun, to know that I am capable, to ask that I be supported and that it goes quickly.

And just that simple shift, allowed the experience to go quickly and easily.

You can believe the stories of your mind or you can create your own reality.

Perception is everything.

When you shift your perception, your reality changes

Looking at the chart above we can see the Sun and the Moon are trine Pluto retrograde in Aquarius.

This can bring some intensity to our mind and communication and also it can support us in alchemizing our mind. This is intensifying the theme of rewiring our thinking mind. How are you communicating?

Pluto is supporting us in bringing up those subconscious thoughts and beliefs to be seen and transformed. So, if you journal, which I highly recommend, write down everything that’s coming up and spend time really getting honest and real about it. Use any tool you have to rewrite the brain. I love the Hypnocloud app, I listen nightly to rewire my subconscious as I fall asleep. I also love Astro Nidra’s from Attune to the Moon. Tapping, meditation, really anything that supports you and regulated you will be helpful during this time.

We’re given an opportunity to do some real work here in rewriting our limiting beliefs and narratives.

Mercury, the ruler of this Moon, is conjunct the Sun and the Moon and is in a sextile to Saturn. Saturn just moves into Aries, at 0° so it’s a very intense and critical degree.

Saturn is giving us an opportunity to ground our thoughts, our mind and to plan and turn it into action. We know with manifestation the biggest and most important piece is action. Yes, we have to rewrite our thoughts and create awareness of our shadows and limiting beliefs but the only way to actually rewrite those beliefs is to take action.

Saturn in Aries can bring grounded action OR suppression of emotions. With this New Moon, we are being supported in grounded thinking, when we might feel a bit intensely, and moving us towards taking action, slower action than Aries is used to. It’s also going to slow down this quick Gemini minded energy as well.

This is also happening in Gate 16 in Human Design, the Gate of Skills. The shadow is indifference. We know that the opposite of love isn’t hate, rather indifference. When you are indifferent to something you actually don’t care at all whereas if you hate something you still have emotions toward something. So the shadow here of indifference is simply a lack of love, where you don’t care. It also holds the energy of being lazy, because when you are indifferent to something you have no pull or drive to it.

The gift here is versatility, so we have an open mind, we are able to show up to things from place of enthusiasm and it’s not performative.

Every gift comes from a place of love and it’s always about authenticity. So in the highest expression of this Gate we are refining our skills, we are mastering our skills with excitement and enthusiasm. This Gate is found in the Throat Center, so of course it’s about expression.

Some questions to reflect on during this New Moon:

  • What are the quality of my thoughts?

  • Where do I feel the urge to express more of who I am?

  • How can I show up for my growth with more joy, curiosity, and devotion?

  • What thoughts and stories no longer belong in my next chapter?

  • Where have I been inconsistent with my word — to myself or others?

  • What is one powerful thought I want to build my life around right now?

Gemini in the Tarot is the Lovers card and this card is all about being a mirror, allowing your relationships to be a mirror for you. So what do you see? Are you projecting? What is being reflected?

The invitation of this New Moon is to commit to the practice of becoming, not perfection, but presence. Speak your truth, even if your voice shakes. Rewire the mental loops that say “I’m not enough” with repetition rooted in devotion, not fear.

Things that we want require an amount of discipline. If we constantly get pulled into our negative beliefs and our emotions we won’t show up for ourselves. So can you show up, even in those spaces? In a way that feels supportive? It’s usually in those moments, when we do show up even though we don’t want to, that we gain the biggest rewards.

The only way to reprogram is through repetition and emotion. Shift your inner experience and show up for yourself.

With Mercury (the ruler of this Moon) sextile Saturn and trine Pluto, this is deeply supported: Saturn says: Build it. Ground it. Pluto says: Transform it. Own it.

Finally, let’s look at this New Moon card pull:
